Eight luxury cruise ships debuting in 2023

Oceania Vista:

Oceania Cruises, the world’s leading culinary and destination-focused cruise line, announced that it will accelerate the debut of its new ship Vista by introducing a new “Founder’s Cruise” from Rome to Venice departing on May 13, 2023. Originally scheduled to debut on May 20, unprecedented demand for the ship’s inaugural season has now driven the maiden voyage forward by a week. Guests joining this inaugural voyage will be the very first to experience Vista with stunning interiors, harmonious public spaces, imaginative new dining and mixology concepts, and new standards for residential-style luxury, including the most spacious standard staterooms at sea.

“Vista has been driving exceptional demand from the moment we first revealed her inaugural voyages. With all of her maiden season voyages sold out or on waitlist status, we are introducing an additional voyage to satisfy that exceptional demand,” stated Howard Sherman, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises.

With 1,200 guests served by 800 crew members, 12 dining options, eight bars, lounges, and entertainment venues, some of the most spacious standard staterooms at sea, palatial Owner’s Suites and new Concierge Level Solo Veranda Staterooms for solo travellers, Vista aims to offer Oceania fans a sense of familiarity infused with original elements and fresh perspectives.

Regent Seven Seas Grandeur

Seven Seas Grandeur, the sixth ship in Regent Seven Seas luxurious fleet, will set sail in November 2023. With a gross tonnage of 55,500, she will host only 750 guests, providing among the highest space ratios and staff to guest ratios in the industry.

Renderings of Seven Seas Grandeur includes all 15 lavish and spacious suite categories, the jewel in the crown being the palatial 4,443 square foot Regent Suite, complete with its own in-suite spa. In addition, renderings of exquisite specialty restaurants Prime 7 and Chartreuse have been unveiled, along with the captivating reimagined design of the largest specialty restaurant at sea, Compass Rose, which offers an unprecedented, fully customised epicurean experience with an unequaled variety of gourmet options available nightly.

Silver Nova:

Silversea Cruises 11th ship, Silver Nova, is scheduled for delivery in 2023 with its maiden voyage scheduled for July. Built with a revolutionary asymmetrical design the new ship will offer guests all-new outdoor spaces with a reimagined, outward-facing pool deck; an al fresco dining area; and a sky bar that offers panoramic views from the ship’s aft.

“Silver Nova represents the next iteration of Silversea’s unique take on luxury, with an entirely new design approach that will enhance our guests’ cruise experience,” said Roberto Martinoli, Silversea’s President and CEO. “With her outward-facing, asymmetrical layout and her all-new outdoor venues, Silver Nova will offer our guests a brand new way to connect and engage with each destination. Moreover, with her groundbreaking environmental credentials, Silver Nova will strengthen our position at the forefront of sustainable cruise travel.”

As well as incorporating a new design approach for the industry’s leading cruise line, Silver Nova will push boundaries in ultra-luxury cruise travel with pioneering sustainability credentials. She is set to become the world’s first low-emissions cruise ship with advanced hybrid technology that utilises fuel cells, emitting zero harmful emissions while in port.

Silver Nova will host up to 728 guests in 13 different suite categories with every suite on board offering guests a private veranda. Among the most spacious suites at sea, a new collection of prized aft suites will afford stunning 270-degree views on the destination. As well as Otium, the cruise line’s Roman-inspired wellness programme launched on the Silver Dawn, and S.A.L.T., its immersive culinary offering launched on the Silver Moon, Silver Nova will offer guests Silversea’s trademark level of service and an array of pioneering, new features.

Seabourn Pursuit:

Seabourn Pursuit originally scheduled to launch in March 2023, has pushed back its inaugural season until October 2023. Sister to the Venture which launched earlier in 2022, both expedition ships are being designed and built for diverse environments to PC6 Polar Class standards and will include a plethora of modern hardware and technology that will extend the ships global deployment and capabilities.

The new ships feature a brand-new innovative design, created specifically for the ultra-luxury expedition traveler, and will include many elements that have made Seabourn ships so successful. The vessels will feature an onboard crew that will include outstanding and well-traveled expedition teams comprised of highly regarded wilderness experts, scientists, historians and naturalists. These accomplished experts will also be part of the Seabourn Conversations program, providing in-depth insights into the history, ecology and culture of the places they visit through both formal presentations and in more casual conversations over meals, on deck during scenic cruising or leisure experiences.

In keeping with the newer Seabourn ocean ships, the Encore and the Ovation, the Venture and the Pursuit have had the interior design overseen by Adam D. Tihany. Both the Venture and Pursuit will feature an Expedition Lounge and Discovery Center, that capture the romanticism of exploration and encourage guests to deepen and share their expedition experiences together.

Outfitted with a Landing Zone for launching and landing equipment for naturalist-led explorations, with sea kayaks and inflatable Zodiacs on board, both ships are able to accommodate all guests on exhilarating adventures. The ships will also have two battery-powered U-Boat Work Cruise Sub 7 submarines custom designed for Seabourn to open guests' eyes to awe-inspiring perspectives on shipwrecks and natural wonders under the sea.

Launching in July 2023, Explora Journeys represents the ambition and long-held dream of the MSC Group and the Aponte family to create a transformative luxury ocean travel experience and brand that redefines the luxury cruise category. 

Explora Journeys will offer unlimited beverages, fine wines, and premium spirits, including in-suite minibar, speciality coffees teas and soft drinks available any time. With 11 culinary experiences across six vibrant restaurants, 12 bars and lounges and a chef`s kitchen where guests can discover and enjoy diverse flavours from around the world, Explora I will offer a range of dining experiences, an exclusive mixology programme and 24 hour in-suite dining.

The luxurious, serene, and spacious 461 ocean-front suites, penthouses and residences have been created with refined European elegance, comfort and simplicity as the focus. Each suite comes with its own spacious terrace with daybeds and an alfresco dining area, floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise natural light and infinite ocean views. Ranging from 35 sqm (377 sq ft), in the Ocean Terrace Suites category, up to 280 sqm (3,014 sq ft) for the Owner's Residence, with an average size of 42 sqm (453 sq ft), Explora I will boast some of the most spacious suites in the industry.

Viking Saturn:

Scheduled to debut in April 2023, Viking Cruises newest ship, Viking Saturn, will spend her maiden season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

Her traditional float out ceremony took place in June 2022 at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard with the ship then moving into the final stage of construction. Following the ceremony, Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, said “It is always a proud day when a new Viking ship meets water for the first time and moves one step closer to joining her sister ships in our fleet. Together with Fincantieri, we have built the world’s most elegant ocean vessels—and we look forward to welcoming our first guests on board the Viking Saturn when she is delivered next spring.”  

Viking Saturn will join her eight identical ocean sisters, each of which have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons and 465 staterooms that can host 930 guests.

Scenic Ocean Cruises:

Luxury cruise line Scenic Cruises newest Discovery Yacht, Scenic Eclipse II, is due to enter service in April 2023. The vessel, a near-identical sister ship to sister yacht Scenic Eclipse, is being built by MKM Yachts, a global leader in luxury shipbuilding owned by parent company Scenic Group. 

The new Discovery Yacht is scheduled to make its inaugural sailing from Lisbon, Portugal in April 2023 and will then make the most of its innovative hull design and on-board technology to explore both polar and warm weather destinations. The inaugural season of sailings will include itineraries taking in the Mediterranean, Scotland, the Americas, the Caribbean and both Polar regions. In 2024 the ship will also visit Australia, Polynesia and Indonesia. 

“The addition of Scenic Eclipse II to the fleet continues our mission to bring once-in-a-lifetime exploration to guests. Our Discovery Yachts are unique in that they can handle extreme and diverse conditions, meaning they can go from the icy waters of the Arctic and Antarctic to the warmth of the Caribbean, and explore ports and coves that larger vessels just cannot access,” Andrea Stafford, Sales Director said. “We are intent on innovating and raising the game in the ultra-luxury cruise sector and are doing this by refining the on-board experience and delivering exciting new destinations. Emerald Cruises:

Emerald Cruises has announced the planned addition of a second luxury superyacht, Emerald Sakara, to its yacht cruising fleet, as well the addition of a brand-new sailing destination, The Seychelles, with the new superyacht expected to celebrate her inaugural departure in August 2023.

Emerald Sakara’s maiden voyage will be the eight-day Tropical Charms of the Seychelles, exploring Port Victoria (Mahé Island), Sainte-Anne Island, Cousin Island, Praslin Island, Grande-Soeur Island, Curieuse Island, La Digue Island and Aride Island. Following her maiden voyage through The Seychelles’ Indian Ocean islands, Emerald Sakara will join sister-superyacht, Emerald Azzurra, in sailing the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Red and Black Seas.
